GOLD

Gold jewelry has always been in high demand. It can be paired with just about any stone and will be just as gorgeous, if not more, than any other metal available. The value of gold fluctuates from day to day, but it is at one of its highest points today. Gold provides classic beauty to engagement rings. Pure gold is combined with other metals to create a harder, more durable alloy and to alter its color to create white, rose, or yellow shades. At Brilliance, we only use 18K and 14K gold in our jewelry and engagement rings.

SILVER

Sterling silver isn’t pure. It is an alloy made with 92.5% silver mixed with 7.5% copper. Pure silver is a little bit soft, so it needs to be mixed with copper to give it a tougher, more durable life as jewelry or silverware. Many times, silver is only electro-plated onto a lesser expensive metal to give it the appearance of being solid silver, but it is actually just a finish of a thin layer of silver.

PLATINUM

Most jewelry designers offer the choice of platinum for engagement rings, wedding bands, and other jewelry. Platinum is hypoallergenic and is four times more durable than gold. Its silvery-white surface is visually comparable to white gold, although it is noticeably heavier.

PALLADIUM

Palladium is a rare precious metal, treasured for its brilliant silver-white surface that can be polished to a high mirror-like shine. Palladium wedding rings are extremely durable and resistant to tarnishing, extreme heat, and exposure to many types of chemicals. The strength of palladium makes it a preferred metal, along with platinum, for use in ring settings.

TUNGSTEN

Tarnish-resistant with a substantial feel in weight. Tungsten is nearly impossible to scratch or wears down, so even the most delicate details are well-defined and polished after years of wear. Four times harder than titanium, tungsten retains its polish longer than almost any other metal. A practical and beautiful choice for gardeners, or anyone who works actively using their hands.

COBALT

Recently, cobalt has become increasingly popular as a material for wedding rings because of its durability, silvery-white shine, hypoallergenic properties, and affordable price tag. Perfect for an active lifestyle, cobalt is typically used in men’s wedding bands and rings. Cobalt contains a specific mix of alloys for a beautiful, yet durable, shine.
